Overnight Shelter Support Staff - Part Time

The Position

The role of Shelter Support Staff is to ensure the well-being of both participants and volunteers while overseeing regular routines in our new 24/7 individual and congregate shelters. Shelter Support Staff oversee all aspects of shelter operations while providing patient, respectful, compassionate, and empathetic support to people living at the shelters. Shelter Support Staff have a genuine concern for others, an ability to multitask and independently prioritize tasks along with the ability to maintain professional boundaries.

Shelter Support Staff positions are classified as regular, full- or part-time non-exempt. Overnight (12am-8am) shifts are available various days of the week and weekends. All new employees are subject to a 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities: The essential functions include but are not limited to:

Maintain a safe, supportive environment and build respectful, professional relationships with participants
Monitor facility to maintain safety of participants and shelter space.
Assist participants with shelter routines and in following all shelter procedures.
Help participants work through possible discord with others living in the shelter.
Communicate observations and interactions with participants to shelter management through daily log.
Assist with meals as needed, following all food safety guidelines.
Intervene in client crises.
Keep shelter clean, restock supplies, and complete shelter laundry.
Participate in staff meetings and relevant training as required,
Adhere to agency policy, procedures, and professional code of ethics.
Complete all duties as assigned. Other duties as required.
