Acres of Diamonds’ mission is to create lasting change for homeless moms and kids through a caring community. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Child Development Manager (CDM) is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of our Child Program evenings and is responsible for the management of a small team of support staff as well as a large team of volunteers. Additionally, the CDM leads in parent support to help residents understand a child’s normal development, challenges, and trauma informed responses in day-to-day parenting. The CDM will lead on finding and engaging with external support services such as schools, social services, etc. The successful candidate will have experience in childhood development, as well as experience in trauma-informed care of children ages 0-12.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Primary lead on child related support for families & child safety
oDevelops and executes documented process to assess children during the intake process.
oMaintains and updates child development documentation throughout time in program.
oIdentifies and develops services to meet unmet needs, including interventions in academics, social and behavioral needs.
oMeets with moms regularly to ensure parent support and education provided as needed.
oCommunicates with moms regarding child developmental progress.
oProactively cultivate relationships with community partners connecting family resources.
oCommunicates Program activities, schedules, goals, and individual relationships with parents
oSpend times with families outside of program nights to continue to develop family relationships and understand child development needs
oEnsures all children have proper car seats
•Leads the development and execution of Kids Program Nights
oIdentifying safe, Christ centered, developmental curriculum appropriate for Acres child population executed during program nights and ensure its proper execution
oProposes and manages new services or activities outside program nights to support the developmental growth of Acres of Diamonds children
oIdentify and implement program evening standards for child engagement for staff and volunteers
oRepresents Kids Program during coordination with other program staff for both program nights and other activities
oLeads the recruitment, training, and relationships of and with volunteers by meeting with outside agencies to ensure ongoing recruitment, as well as training the Child Specialist/Coordinator to:
oIdentify volunteer needs
oWork with Volunteer department to maximize volunteer leads
oDirect recruitment to outside agencies, business, and churches when needed
oDevelop and maintain robust processes to train, honor, and recruit volunteers
oTrain new volunteers and on primary interactions necessary when helping in kids’ program

•Manage direct reports in keeping with Acres’ standards.
•Facilitate communication of Kids Program activities, schedules, goals, and individual relationships with staff as needed and appropriate.
•Leads and Support non-program night activities such as seasonal events, graduation, van driving.
•Maintain strict resident, volunteer, and donor confidentiality and professional boundaries.
•Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and active in a Christian church.
•Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s Degree or at least three years’ experience in a related field.
•Working knowledge of best practices supporting children who have been through trauma.
•Passionate advocate for a child’s emotional, spiritual, and physical development.
•Experience shepherding of children ages 0-12 and building relationships with parents.
•Commitment to the mission of ending generational cycles of poverty.
•Exhibit excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to facilitate effective interactions with residents, volunteers, and staff.
•Ability to prioritize and organize workload and manage time independently to meet deadlines.
•Ability to facilitate large and small groups.
•Excellent planning and organizational skills with a proven ability to execute tasks efficiently.
•Sensitivity to the needs of residents, staff, and volunteers from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, with a high value on listening and learning.
•Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation.
