Maintenance Worker

$28.67-$36.29 Hour

The City of Carnation is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team in ensuring the efficient operation, repair, and maintenance of our water, street, and storm drainage facilities and systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being and functionality of our community while utilizing a variety of equipment and tools.

**Responsibilities:**
- Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance work related to the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water, street, and storm drainage facilities and systems.
- Operate a diverse range of equipment including but not limited to dump trucks, pickup trucks, utility trucks, street sweepers, street rollers, manlifts, tampers, plate compactors, saws, pumps, aeroil propane kettles, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radios, phones, and ditch witches.
- Conduct inspections and troubleshoot issues with equipment and infrastructure to ensure safe and effective operation.
- Participate in emergency response efforts as necessary, including after-hours and on-call duties.
- Collaborate with team members and other city departments to coordinate maintenance activities and projects.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance.

**Requirements:**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated experience in performing maintenance and repair work, preferably in a municipal or similar environment.
- Ability to operate a variety of motorized vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and occasionally lift heavy objects.
- Ability to pass periodic background checks and random substance testing.
