Network Engineer

The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the local and wide area network for the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe to ensure 99.999 percent uptime to maximize uptime for users. The Network Engineer is responsible for the perimeter and internal network security including email security and its associated systems. The Network Engineer is also responsible for the Tribe’s telephone system and all data and voice circuits.



Essential Duties:

Responsible for the configuration, installation, management and troubleshooting of all network infrastructure equipment supporting multiple sites, business functions and security requirements.
Responsible for planning and implementing network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, and managing host security.
Responsible for the installation, management and troubleshooting of all data and voice circuits supporting all Administration campuses.
Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
Responsible for responding to all network and infrastructure related security breaches and providing updates of the response plan to the IT Director/Manager.
On-call to respond to network, system, and application outages.
Additional Duties:

Assist in developing IT disaster recovery plan.
Assists with the development of proposals and management of telecommunication contracts.
Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of network equipment, firewalls, VPN devices, security devices/services and software within the Tribe’s standards.
Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test, and implement solutions.
Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures network switches, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment.
Perform and/or oversee software and application development, installation, and upgrades.
Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations.
Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
Ensure systems and data backups run daily and ensures data is protected and reports all anomalies. Performs recovery of data as required.
Maintain and administer Microsoft active directory and DHCP environment.
Work with vendors and departments in implementation of new systems, applications and updates to existing systems and applications.

Requirements
Requires general computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Visio. Must possess outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, as well as excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated experience managing and configuring network switches, routers, firewalls, VPN devices and VoIP phone systems/services (experience with the following is a plus (Extreme Network EXOS, SonicWall NSA and SMA product line, Comcast Business Voice Edge, and VMWare).
A thorough understanding of TCP/IP, tcpdump, wireshark, routing and routed protocols.
Knowledge of EAPoL protocol and configuration.
Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining a network topology consisting of multiple VLAN’s, campuses, buildings and business functions.
Experience in maintaining LAN and WAN technologies including layer 2 and 3 switching and routing, and firewall configuration and administration.
Experience in isolating and troubleshooting problems with TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, Layer 2 technologies, VPN solutions and DNS.
Demonstrated experience in implementing and maintaining a digital certificate environment.
Demonstrated experience in configuring and maintaining O365 enterprise environment and Active Directory and Azure Active Directory
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware including firewalls, switches, VMWare networks and hardware, SAN, Office 365, Windows Server and Active Directory, and a small Unix/Linux footprint.
Understanding of SIP, H.323, H.264 protocols as well as familiarity with QOS principles.
Experience managing VoIP systems.
Experience with IP Gateways
Familiar with voice Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning
Experience managing telecom carriers ordering Local, Long Distance and Toll-Free services. Ordering and troubleshooting of POTs lines, PRI/BRI, and Point-to-point services
Extensive experience with mobility products
Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standards may exist and critical thinking is needed for effective resolutions.

Maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.

Education & Experience:

Education Required:

Associate degree in computer science or in a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in a related field.
Experience:

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in network operations and maintenance supporting switches, routers, firewalls and VPN devices in a multiple site’s environment with at least 200 users.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing a VoIP phone system/service for at least 150 users, automated attendants, and voicemail.
Other Requirements:

Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation.
Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.
Work Environment:

The work environment includes an office environment in a controlled atmosphere building. Remote or hybrid work arrangements may be possible in accordance with the Tribe’s Telecommuting Policy.

Additional Information:

Salary, compensation will be determined based on experience and starts at $96,349.49 per year.
This position is a regular full-time position and employment is at will.

Snoqualmie, WA (Hybrid work arrangements may be possible in accordance with the Tribe’s Telecommuting Policy).
