Environmental Review Analyst

Starting at $88,726.03 Annually


Collaborate with other internal departments on issues related to natural resources and other Tribal priorities. Represent the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe on various planning committees and other groups with connection to Tribal priority natural resources by participating in meetings and advocating for Tribal values.

Essential Duties:
Analyze local, regional and national projects, policies, reports, etc. for consistency with Tribal values and priorities, and prepare and submit comments as needed and/or directed.
Engage with other Tribal staff to discern Tribal priorities and values.
Engage with other jurisdictions, agencies and groups to stay abreast of new topics and issues that have the potential to affect Tribal resources; this includes tracking and meeting comment deadlines.
Communicate/coordinate/advise with other internal departments on Tribal priority issues related to aquatic and other natural resources.
Manage the administration and oversight of the GIS (Geographic Information System) data collection database tool, ensuring efficient project commenting and compliance with system requirements.
Represent the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe on various planning committees and other groups with connections to Tribal priority natural resources.
Engage with Tribal Members to ensure that traditional ecological knowledge/Indigenous knowledge (TEK/IK) is incorporated and supported in environmental efforts.
Provide support for monitoring, drafting, and managing grant applications and contracts for funding to support Tribal projects and priorities.
Participate in meetings and advocate for Tribal values.
Additional Duties:

Occasional field work and site visits are required which may be strenuous at times, as well as frequent local travel to meetings.
The Tribe values its commitment to community service and the well-being of its members. In recognition of this, each employee may be expected to perform duties from time to time which may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

Requirements
Knowledge of water quality indicators and their relationships to aquatic ecology.
Knowledge of terrestrial biology and ecology and natural resource management.
Knowledge of landscape, ecology, history, etc. of Snoqualmie territory, and how these relate to Tribal priorities for aquatic resources.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, policies, laws, guidance and plans, especially pertaining to natural resources.
Knowledge of environmental data collection, interpretation and presentation.
Ability to work under and ultimately meet multiple overlapping deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent technical writing and communication skills are required.
Ability to synthesize information from a wide variety of sources into actionable items targeted to protection and enhancement of Tribal priority aquatic resources.
Ability to learn new software as required.
Ability to quickly read and retain large amounts of technical information.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse groups of people, e.g. regulators, scientists, environmental groups, development groups, landowners, etc., even when positions diverge over sometimes contentious issues.
Education & Experience:

Education Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Policy, or related field
Education Preferred:

Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Planning, Policy, or related field
Experience:

A minimum of 3 years’ related experience required.
Demonstrated experience or familiarity with scripting, web development and/or GIS tools and analysis are required.
Other Requirements:

Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation.
Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.
Work Environment:

The work environment includes an office environment in a controlled atmosphere building. Noise levels are typically low to moderate. However, occasional field work and site visits will be required, which is outdoor work in all weather conditions that can be strenuous at times.



Tribal Preference:

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe follows the Tribal Hiring Preference as outlined in tribal policies, including the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). TERO sets forth certain hiring preferences for qualified individuals who are enrolled in a federally recognized Indian tribe, as well as, in some cases, preference for certain family members of those individuals.

Additional Information:

Salary, compensation will be determined based on experience and starts at $88,726.03 per year.
This position is a regular full-time position and employment is at will.
