OBJECTIVE SUMMARY: Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by a physician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School Diploma AND graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program
PREFERRED EDUCATION: As above
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of a Medical Assisting externship
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: One year of on-the-job experience
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: MA-certification or MA-registration active with the State of Washington
SKILLS:
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including Lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, sitting, kneeling, and handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary.
