Principal Electrical Engineer

$178,000 - $187,000/ annually plus benefits


The Principal Electrical Engineer leads in the design, innovation, implementation and testing of best-in-class systems for patient monitoring. Be part of a world class, highly energized engineering team developing medical devices. Requires demonstrated ability to innovate next generation designs, think independently, work hands-on, meet schedule goals, lead a team, and demonstrate leadership qualities. Provides technical support for projects involving low power medical analog, microprocessor, micro-controller and digital circuit design, in the development of patient monitoring products. Work content includes component and sub-system level testing, proto- typing and design work, simulation and component selection. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering, particularly within the medical device industry, and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required, Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in the medical device industry.
- Experience with medical device regulatory requirements and standards.
- Experience with design of high-density multi-layer PC boards, ASICs, and FPGA.
- Demonstrated skills in ARM-core based PDA and/or, Intel x86/Pentium-M based embedded platform development, high performance computing platforms, microprocessor-based instrumentation, and digital and analog electronic design highly preferred.
- Medical grade low signal analog and low noise power supply design skills. Layout architecture skills for small signal and low noise PCB preferred.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in analog and digital electronic design, familiar with EDA tools and methodologies preferred.
- Experience with physiological sensor technology is desirable.
- Experience with PCB layout and design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD).
- Experience planning and conducting rigorous design of experiments and tests to verify/validate designs, including use of simulation tools and methods to optimize and verify designs. Requires experience in computer simulation and high reliability robust electronic designs.
- Experience completing technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing.
- Experience with completing technical documentation for engineering and manufacturing; medical device records experience highly preferred.
- Has a track record of encouraging innovation and out-of-box thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes. Strong project management skills.
- Highly developed relationship-building skills, and strong presentation and communication skills.
- Experience working positively and productively in a team environment. Highly collaborative.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, for both internal and external audiences, at all levels.
- Knowledge of and ability to work within a global corporate environment is required.
- Advanced Microsoft Office user - PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Experienced with Microsoft Project software.
- Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with global time zone needs such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet global business needs.
