Domestic Violence Advisor

$27-$35 Hour


The Trail Youth is all about empowering young people and creating a safe and
supportive space. Our mission is to spread awareness about domestic violence and
provide support to those who’ve been affected.


Position Summary:
The Domestic Violence Advisor / Victim Advocate will be working closely with teens
who’ve experienced domestic violence. They’ll be offering support, resources, and
advocacy. This role needs someone who’s super empathetic and can connect with
youth and families. They’ll be guiding and helping these families navigate their tough
times.

Key Responsibilities:
* Do some deep research and analysis to figure out what’s going on in the youth
community related to domestic violence.
* Create and run surveys and polls to gather data and insights on domestic violence-
related issues among young people.
* Keep up with ongoing training and development to learn more about addressing
domestic violence issues and advocating for effective solutions.
* Give immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to teens who’ve been
affected by domestic violence.
* Help teens create safety plans and get access to the right resources, like shelters,
counseling services, and legal aid.
* Speak up for the rights and needs of youth in different places, like schools,
community organizations, and government agencies.
* Run prevention education and awareness campaigns on sexual assault, dating
violence, stalking, and sex trafficking.
* Manage and maintain our social media presence to promote our work and connect
with the community.

General Description:
We’re looking for a counselor with experience in domestic violence intervention to join
our team. You’ll be helping youth and families learn about healthy relationships and
self-advocacy. You’ll also be providing information to schools and doing outreach
efforts.
You’ll create educational materials for teens to raise awareness about domestic
violence. You’ll work with the Snoqualmie Tribe, Reclaim (formerly Snoqualmie Valley
Shelter Services), the Office of Violence Against Women, and other partners to put
together a comprehensive support plan. You’ll also build relationships with local
schools, youth groups, and community organizations to spread awareness and make
sure people have the resources they need.
We’re looking for someone with a background in counseling, nursing, social work,
psychology, or a related field. You should also have a strong understanding of domestic
violence dynamics, especially when it comes to teens and their families. You’ll need to
be able to communicate well and connect with young people.
